Meeting Community Need
The past year has
seen tremendous challenges in communities
across the nation. As we struggle with the
shifting economic tide and uncertainties
both at home and abroad, it is crucial to
realize the essential nature of the work we
do each day. It is through your support as
volunteers, advocates, donors, and community
resources that Rainbow House is able to
maintain our emergency and outreach
programs.
Odds are, each of us
knows someone affected by domestic abuse.
Which is why Rainbow House has addressed
recent challenges by remaining focused on
the pressing needs of women and children
experiencing domestic violence. We continue
to offer our clients the highest quality and
widest range of services, responding
directly to individual and community need.
In FY 2005, we
delivered services to more women and
children than ever before. We have more than
doubled our services since 2000.
Our Children's Program, provided
282 children with counseling, advocacy, and
enrichment activities.
Both of our
Community Resource sites have seen
tremendous growth. At each site, the Woman's
Advocate experienced a more than 20% increase
in the number of service hours serving 516 women.
Through educational presentations, active
advocacy, health fairs, and our Teen
Parenting Services Program, our Domestic
Violence Prevention and Education Program
(DVPEP) touched the lives of 3,650 people in
and around Chicago.
